A generous donation has been received and is to be used to study the field of economics and peace, particularly the effect of the disparity been military expenditure and social spending.

News from the Peace Centre

Professor Richard Jackson has been appointed to the position of Deputy Director of the Peace Centre.

A student at the centre has become the first to complete his Masters thesis, investigating the impact of hydro development on peace & conflict in the Mekong basin.

Two new Trustees were appointed at the April AGM.
The booklet Primary Documents on Peace and War in New Zealand was published by the Trust.

February 2011
Ten students graduated with Post Graduate Diplomas in Peace and Conflict Studies in the 2010 inaugural year, with 30 students enrolled for 2011.

- A  working group has been set up to discuss peace related studies in New Zealand schools and communities.
- University of Otago recently agreed to establish a Lectureship in Peace and Education.
